Today was a lazy day for me, It was raining with grey skies while on holiday in Norfolk. Sadly there wasn’t much we could do outside and a beach walk didn’t seem appealing while it tipped it down so I decide to bring out my water-colour pencils which is something I hadn’t done for fun in a long while.
The first thing I found challenging when deciding to draw was actually what I should draw, I’m aware that coming to the conclusion of droplets wasn’t actually that creative in the spectrum of things but I had a serious amount of fun, the second I did the first one I just wanted to keep going. I do admit that during this I was in bed watching Game Of Thrones but it was so nice to just relax with Alex and do something i’ve loved for as long as I can remember.
This is the first thing I drew in almost 3 months! and I have to say it was so so so fun! Yes its just drops and but I put effort in and while it was raining outside I decided to not get gloomy but use the rain as my inspiration for the day.
Following on from just pencils I decided to use my watercolour pencils with actual water, this is something my mum is very skilled at and growing up I was always trying to be just like her but I was always rushing due to me being a very impatient person and ruining my work, only in the last couple days i’ve come to realise that being patient when doing art is seriously important.
I do admit that I had to take to pinterest for inspiration but the second I saw this plant I seriously wanted to draw it, It was the perfect amount of simple but still required concentration which in my mind is perfect and the feeling that I get once i’ve completed a piece is such pride (even if it isn’t actually any good) that was all me and I took my time doing it.
if you could take 20 minuets out of each day to do something just for you what would it be? why? please let me know in the comment section down below.
